Activity introduction

This event is a special project of the Traditional Chinese Opera Performing Arts Inheritance and Education Alliance. It aims to deeply explore the aesthetic value and cultural connotation of traditional Chinese puppet art and build a bridge for the audience to have close contact with intangible cultural heritage skills. As a Chinese art treasure that has been passed down for more than 2,000 years, puppet art combines multiple art categories such as sculpture, costumes, performances, opera literature, etc., and is both folklore and artistic. Among them, the vividness of stick puppets, the exquisiteness of string puppets, the neatness of bag puppets, and the changing light and shadow of shadow puppets all embody the ingenuity and aesthetic pursuit of craftsmen of the past generations, and are the living carriers of China's excellent traditional culture.

This lecture was delivered by Shan Shuyan, a senior teacher of puppetry who has been in the industry for nearly 20 years. She is deeply involved in the field of puppet performance and production. She is good at performance creation and prop design of puppets and shadow puppets. She has participated in international puppet art events on behalf of the country many times and won many professional honors. The course will break the traditional one-way explanation mode. Through the four-in-one form of "knowledge explanation + physical display + on-site operation + audience experience", the course will systematically sort out the historical context and artistic characteristics of the four major categories of traditional puppets. At the same time, it will integrate the innovative performance forms of modern puppets, feel the charm of intangible cultural heritage on your fingertips, and understand the vitality of puppet art spanning thousands of years.

Project introduction

"Let the national culture last forever - 2026 Shanghai Secondary Vocational School National Culture Inheritance Education Alliance" series of activities are hosted by the Shanghai Art Museum and the Shanghai Secondary Vocational School National Culture Inheritance Base, and hosted by the magazine "Growth and Employment" and 11 secondary vocational school bases with national cultural characteristics. This project gives full play to the educational function of the base, allowing colorful and entertaining heritage education activities to go out of the classroom, into art venues, and closer to public life. At the same time, relying on rich collection resources, it draws on traditional cultural elements from Shanghai-style paintings and carries out "deep cultural infiltration + differentiated characteristic experience" activities to achieve the goal of building souls with cultural people and bacon, and further enhance cultural confidence.
